Man Cannot Live Alone

Man cannot live alone:
the words were torn from the wind;
when bone arose beautiful and blind,
arose crying into the unbegun.

Wakening wild-eyed in the dawn,
memory exploded in light,
man knows only the images shaken
from the luminous contours of the night.

Man cannot live alone
cannot endure the immanent unkown
without the tempering of his lust,
without interpreting his vision
through the curtain of the bone.
