Down Granville Street

Trolley cars converge
down Granville Street.
The old rails are dead.
Clank and bleak horns in the city air.
Take to the sidewalk,
the springing world and business play
are one today.
Bridge down again.
My city, place of walled dim
hopes; God made a different world
than this awkward strain
of parallel lives.
